Bee Hive Hands-On Personal Mentoring in Our Apiary

Beekeeping classes

Experience a personalized beekeeping class designed just for you. Each session is private, ensuring that you won't be scheduled with any other beekeepers. During this time, you will discover workers, pollen, honey, drones, eggs, larvae, and maybe even the queen! This dedicated time allows for focused attention, giving you the opportunity to ask all the questions you may have. Join us for an informative experience tailored to your needs!

Dive into fascinating topics like seasonal expectations, tackling varroa, managing pesky hive intruders like wax moths and beetles, mastering the art of lighting a smoker, and expanding your apiary. Whether you come solo or bring along a small group of up to six, you'll be hands-on in an actual bee hive inspection right in my backyard Griffin apiary—don’t forget your camera for that perfect shot holding a frame of bees!

Each class is available in 30-minute increments, with a one-hour minimum. Bee suits and gloves are provided for youth sizes to XXL.  Join us for an unforgettable experience!

Hourly rate $75 for the first person, $35 for each additional person per hour up to six participants.

Testimonials

BreeAnn J.

Pop Pop’s Apiary offers a wonderful learning experience for beginning beekeepers!

We purchased a nuc from Pop Pop’s Apiary and he delivered it to our property and gave an hour lesson, locating our Queen, helping us get the frames transferred into our hive, advising us on what to do next, and answering all of our questions. He was very friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable, and the colony he raised has so many bees already with a strong queen. He really helped us to feel more comfortable about beginning this journey. It’s clear he has a passion for beekeeping, and for sharing his knowledge. We learned so much from Corey that isn’t in any of the beekeeping books! We also got a small bottle of his honey and it’s delicious!

The experience was so wonderful and helpful as beginners!

Barry W.

I recently purchased a Nuc from Corey and he has been so helpful answering my questions to get started as a Beekeeper. Corey even contacted me to check and make sure the transfer went well from the Nuc to my hive. I highly recommend Pop Pop’s Apiaries!

Angela G.

Amazing beeswax, this is some of the best wax I have worked with for my candles.

Smitty B.

Great experience. Had a queen ready for me on short notice. Seems to be a quality queen. Will do business again. Thanks Corey.

Lisa S.

Corey showed me the good and the bad of a hive I acquired from another beekeeper. He gave great insight and suggestions on what to expect in the coming seasons. He answered all my questions. Thank you so much for spending time with me and my hives today!

ABOUT US

OUR
STORY

It all started with a spark of curiosity about honey bees and an exciting beekeeping class back in 2017! My interest immediately soared, leading to purchasing three small hives, and I was captivated by these incredible little creatures working tirelessly for their colony.

Before I knew it, our bee family expanded to nearly fifty hives across three counties! What began as a hobby quickly became an adventure, immersed thirty to forty hours a week. We even started selling our surplus honey, queens, and nucleus hives, making every trip to the bee yard a new and exhilarating experience!

During the winter off-season, I blend my passion for beekeeping with woodworking, crafting, and painting wooden hive boxes, lids, and frames, all in preparation for the bustling spring!

As an enthusiastic member of the beeping community, I proudly served as Vice President of the Coweta County Beekeepers Association for two terms, 2022 and 2023, and a member of the Georgia Beekeepers Association and other local groups. I achieved journeyman-level beekeeping and share my experience through public speaking engagements and with mentees.

Did you know that honey bees pollinate one-third of the fruits and vegetables we enjoy? These amazing insects are the only ones that produce food we can consume!

Our raw, unpasteurized wildflower honey comes from the beautiful flowers and trees of the Piedmont area of Georgia, with the unique flavor and color of the blossoms our bees visit!

I'm excited as a proud member of the beekeeping community to support Hives for Heroes®! They wonderfully connect us with local Veterans, inviting them into the fantastic world of beekeeping. Together, we embark on a journey of mentorship, forge lasting friendships, and share our passion for nurturing honeybees while swapping invaluable insights and tackling challenges. There's nothing quite like immersing ourselves in the soothing hum of the bees and the floral scents of honey, beeswax, and propolis!
